The IAA-CSIC Severo Ochoa Advanced School on Star Formation will be held in Granada, from Monday, November 27th, to Friday, December 1st, 2023. It is directed at researchers of all levels who have a special interest in star formation.  This school will include an overview of basic concepts, but aims to go beyond textbook knowledge by providing insight into the current frontiers of research and will have a strongly interactive aspect with ample room for questions and discussions. Lectures will be short 'flash lectures’, no longer than 30 min, followed by questions and discussions. The participants will contribute to  shaping the concluding discussions at the end of each day.

The interaction among and between participants and tutors - to get to know each other’s research and perhaps even find ideas for common work - will be an important aspect of this school.

The number of participants will be limited to 60 in person. Remote participation will be possible, but is not encouraged, because the school will be highly interactive.

This School aims at having a highly interactive character and physical participation is therefore strongly encouraged. We will provide the possibility of limited remote participation, but please be aware that the conference will not be optimised for this mode.

The registration deadline is September 30th. You will be informed whether you have been accepted no later than October 15th. Payment of the fee should then be made within one week.

To formalize the participation you must fill in the mandatory fields in the pre-registration form. Once you have been accepted you will receive an electronic invoice to confirm your registration. Payment can be made by bank transfer or credit card.

The maximum number of  in person participants is 60. Up to half of the available slots may be reserved for staff from the IAA-CSIC. If the number of applicants exceeds 60 after the registration deadline, the SOC will decide on the applications based on factors such as geographic location, research interests and expertise, gender balance, or seniority in order to come up with an optimal mix of participants. Accepted participants will then be notified and receive an invoice. They should then proceed to payment of the registration fee. Registration will only be considered complete once the payment has been received.
